SATF Support

SATF lives in the menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows). Start dragging any file, then give it a little shake left and right, or press ⌥⇧Space (Alt+Shift+Space on Windows) while dragging. The round menu appears under your cursor: drop the file on what you want.

Mac App Store version: in your Downloads folder. To use another folder, open the SATF menu bar icon → Settings → Converted files → Change….

Website version: next to the original file. In both cases a notification shows where the file went: click it to reveal the file. Your original file is never changed.

Open Settings → Shake and check that "Shake while dragging to open the menu" is on. Move Sensitivity towards Light, or set "Hold key" to none if a key is required. You can always use the keyboard shortcut instead.

Make sure you keep the mouse button down: the menu only opens while a file is being dragged.

Apps from the Mac App Store run in a sandbox and cannot install LibreOffice or control Microsoft Office, which SATF needs for these files. Excel and PowerPoint conversion is available in the free version from mktechvn.com/satf.

Check that the file opens in its usual app; damaged or password-protected files can't be converted. If it still fails, email us the file type and the message SATF showed. Use Report a Bug… in the SATF menu to open a pre-filled email.

Mac App Store version: quit SATF from its menu, then drag SATF from Applications to the Trash (or delete it from Launchpad).

Website version: SATF menu → Uninstall SATF… removes the app and everything it created. On Windows, use Settings → Apps.
